Air Wipe to Clean, Blowoff, Dry, & Cool Cable, Pipe, Hose and Extruded Shapes

    March 9th, 2010

Many manufacturers have a need for a tool that will clean, dry and cool their products. However, cost is often the factor that deters them from acquiring one. Also the ones available at a reasonable price may be too large for placement in the required spot. STREAMTEK offers Air Wipes at a fantastic price, in various sizes, that will assist you in speeding up your production process.

Air Wipes provide a uniform 360º airflow using small amounts of compressed air. Thanks to its split design, it can very easily clamp around any material surface. Here are some of many of the applications for Air Wipes:

    • – Using it as a dryer after wash
    • – Cleaning or planting
    • – Blow-off dust
    • – Drying tube, extruded profile, wire, hose, etc…
    • – Clean strips or ribbon
    •

STREAMTEK manufactures two types of Air Wipes:

    • Hi-Temp Air Wipes
    • Regular Air Wipes

The main difference between these two Air Wipes is the material used in their construction. Hi-Temp Air Wipes are manufactured using stainless steel (temperatures exceeding 150°F (66°C)), and Regular Air Wipes are manufactured using aluminum (temperatures don’t exceed 150°F (66°C)). Both types of Air Wipes can be installed easily and usually require no additional cleaning or maintenance.

We offer six (6) standard IN-STOCK throat diameters: 1″ (13 mm), 2″ (25 mm), 3″ (51 mm), 4″ (76 mm), 5″ (102 mm), and 6″ (127 mm). If none of these six (6) throat diameters match your needs you can always contact us and request a custom size. The Golden Rule

    March 5th, 2010

I have often in life come across situations that remind me of something my father, who has recently passed, used to tell me. He told me to treat others as you wish to be treated. Sometimes it’s easy to forget that the needs of another, customers included, can be the same as my own. At the end of everyday though, I am a customer as well as a business woman.

I am not unlike most people. I wake up in the morning, get ready for work, and head to my local Timmies for my morning coffee. I appreciate my java made right to order as there is nothing that starts my day better then a good cup of coffee. Now I mention this specifically because recently, I was driving through getting my morning cup of heaven or so I thought… I went to take a big sip of my double double coffee and got a mouth full of coffee, cream and no sugar. Needless to say my day didn’t start well. It’s not my only recent experience as a customer that was less then savory. I purchased a brand new washer and dryer set and no sooner did I get the set delivered and installed, my husband showed me the same set offered by a competitor for 15% less then what I paid for it. Obviously that didn’t make me happy and when I contacted the company I purchased it through they offered an apology and policy but no refund or reasonable offer to appease me.

As a customer I want my voice to be heard. I want what I want, when I want it and how I ordered it at the best price. I’m sure many of you reading this feel the same way.

We want to offer that to you. As the customer relations manager, it is my business to make sure our customers are treated well. That if you have an order no matter how complex you can be sure that we will work with you to make sure it is manufactured to your specifications. Unlike my coffee the other day, we will listen and make your order exactly as specified. Not only do we provide you the highest quality compressed air products but if they are found faulty we offer an unmatched 6 yr warranty. If any part of our manufacturing process didn’t match up to that of our competition, why would we be so willing to stand behind our product with a warranty? To date we have had a less then 0.05% return rate.

Which brings me to price point, we do discuss a lot. I know as a customer how frustrating it is to pay more for something then I should have to. We never want a customer to feel that way. We offer a high quality product at the best price because you as a customer deserve the best.

So if you would like an excellent customer service experience and get a high quality product at a great price contact our sales team… because given the chance we will show you that we treat every customer as we would like to be treated.

    The Higher Road

    March 1st, 2010

STREAMTEK has recently encountered a situation with our competition with regards to a similar customer/client situation. Although, in a business such as ours it is bound to happen as we have clientele with similar needs, we have made our apologies.

However our competitors have made mention of our low prices and have inferred that our products are of a lesser quality. We have always offered low prices and always will. For that we will make no apology. We have always stated we want to offer the best deal on the same or better product. We offer stainless steel products at prices that are usually the cost of our competitor’s aluminum products with a warranty, because we believe in the quality and the performance of the products we offer.

Our entire product line offers at the very least same and in most case better performance than the competition. Our side by side tests have proven our quality. We provide the highest quality in every aspect of the manufacturing process. From stainless steel shims to stainless steel screws, we have the whole package. Our stainless steel Cabinet Panel Coolers are priced lower than the aluminum competitor offers. We encourage you to your own side by side test.

In business, putting down your competition leads to your company being placed in a negative light while opening up the eyes of your customers to the competition you are trying to affront. We would like our customers and future customers to see for themselves why our product is just as good if not better. Contact our sales team for more information.

    Discount prices Vs. Quality

    February 25th, 2010

By paying a higher price does this mean you’re getting a higher quality product? Most of the time the answer is no. With a little research often you will find that high quality can be obtained at a much more reasonable price. STREAMTEK provides an obvious answer. We offer discount prices for the same or higher quality product offered by our competition. STREAMTEK Panel Cooler – Maintenance Free

    February 23rd, 2010

Why on earth would a company decide to install a compressed air operated STREAMTEK Panel Cooler instead of an air conditioner? Isn’t compressed air expensive? Yes it is, however there many advantages/benefits! Such as..

  • Low Cost
  • -If you find an advertised price and/or quote from a competitor for a similar compressed air operated panel cooler, we won’t just match it, but promise to beat is by 20%. It’s our standard everyday policy.

  • Compact, No CFC’s and installs through standard knockout within minutes
  • Virtually zero maintenance (no moving parts)
  • Stops nuisance tripping & heat damage
  • Eliminates filters & fans
  • Stabilizes the temperature/humidity within the enclosure
  • Cabinet is kept at positive pressure, therefore preventing dirt contamination
  • Concerned about the energy costs associated with running the STREAMTEK Panel Cooler? Consider our thermostat control kits (seen here) which utilize on-off control with an adjustable thermostat & solenoid valve.

Once the desired temperature setting is reached, the thermostat will send a signal to the solenoid to close; effectively stopping the compressed air flow. Variable frequency drives in particular generate a tremendous amount of heat upon start-up, the STREAMTEK Panel Cooler is particularly effective in this application.

    Compressed Air Versus Blowers

    February 22nd, 2010

Much as been said about compressed air and it’s high costs over the years. If a plant is using copper tubing/pipe with holes drilled or open slots and compressed is plumbed to them – either compressed air amplifying systems or a blower type system should be used as both will improve overall productivity and reduce energy costs.

    FACTS:
Depending on the company and/or personnel involved, each of the following factors may have a lesser or greater weight overall.

    1. System Cost
It’s no secret, Blower Systems are far more expensive than compressed air amplifier systems. Separate locations are often required for blower systems due to their high operating noise levels. Expected system maintenance costs should be closely examined prior to any system purchase.

    2. Noise Level
Even with silencers added to Blower Systems, they are still far more noisy when compared to compressed air amplifier systems. The STREAMTEK compressed air-operated Advanced Air Knife is extremely quiet at well below 80 dBA for 95% of applications.

    3. Operating cost & Maintenance
A compressed air operated amplifier blow-off system requires virtually zero maintenance costs, pending a clean dry source of compressed air is given to the unit(s). Compressed air amplifying units are precision designed to use a very small amount of compressed air while utilizing various angles and shapes to entrain the ambient air and convert pressure to useful airflow.

Blower type systems on the other hand have very high energy & maintenance costs. In addition, they simply can’t be turned on/off as required using solenoid valves, switches and sensors.

    4. Availability of energy
Sometimes electrical power may not be available due to the extreme costs to bring in power to a facility. These cost must be considered if installing compressed air lines versus and electrical installation.

    5. Reliability
When the motor in a blow system goes down, the entire production line grinds to a halt. Spare parts quickly become very important in critical operations. If you have a critical application, compressed air systems (smaller size systems in particular) are far more reliable as a compressed air amplifier systems runs off stored compressed air.

    6. Space/Weight
Blower systems can be very heavy and consume far more space than compressed air amplifiers. Size & weight aside, the actual blow-off force is stronger by nature with compressed air amplifiers when compared to standard blower systems. In addition, blowers are notorious for adding heat to the airflow which increases energy use and spots being left on the item(s) being dried.

    7. Application particulars
A blower-operated system is constantly running and sucking up costly energy! A compressed air amplifier system is far more economical in situations where blow-off can be cycled on/off when needed. Blowers may be economical in very light blow-off applications, but the horsepower they require is quite marginal when compared to what 12″ and under compressed air-operated air knives consume.

In conclusion, if you are deciding on a drying or blow-off method, don’t just think about the energy cost associated. If you require a high velocity airflow then you may come to realize that a lower cost compressed air drying system may be your best choice.

When you buy a compressed air amplifier system, you don’t have to be too concerned as to which company to purchase from. This is due to the fact that the source is the same – stored compressed air, usually between 80 & 120 PSIG. On the flip side, Blowers will vary drastically in performance depending on model & make.

    Removing Static Electricity

    February 19th, 2010

Static electricity can be found virtually anywhere, especially during material transport and within production. Static Electricity is created when an electrical charge builds up on the surface of an object. This static charge will remain on the object until its neutralized by discharge or exchanged with another object that makes contact.

Static Electricity can cause a world of problems in the following industry operations and materials: Object converting, electric assembly, printing, painting & finishing, and Plastic/Textile materials. The discharge of static electricity can be quite dangerous, especially in an industry that works with highly flammable substances. More information regarding the removal of static electricity can be found in our Ionizing Ion Bars Application section.

When it comes to removing and/or preventing a static charge, there are many different ways in which it can be done; most effectively done by using a Static Ion Bar. Static Ion bars remove static electricity from the surface of plastic, textile, glass, paper, and various other materials. They utilize power supplies ranging from from 4-8 kW and can remove both positive/negative charges by simply placing the bar where a charge is generated. It is compact in design which enables you to easily place it where needed.

STREAMTEK manufactures low cost Ionizing Ion Bars in many different lengths, paired with necessary accessories such as: Power Supplies, Power Cables, Digital Static Meter, etc. Contact a STREAMTEK Application Engineer today and inquire about our Ionizing Static Bars.
